Round 9 Yabbies First XV

Round 9 of the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition sees the Young Yabbies take on the Boorowa Goldies at the home of Boorowa Rugby, Boorowa Showground.

The Forward Pack

The Front Row remains unchanged from the Yabbies victory over Grenfell with Hooker Will Munday being flanked by Loosehead Prop Hagon Williams and Tighthead Prop Jesh Smith. The Second Row this week is also unchanged with Rowan Daley partnering up with Dan Cormie. Flanking on the side of the scrum this week will be Dan Parker and the Irish Recruit Kevin McLaughlin. Dan Dowson is expected to lead the pack from the back this week in the No. 8 position.

The Backs

The Backs this week will be commanded, as usual, by Brendan Shoard as Flyhalf, with his partner in crime Captain Coach Ned Mullany as Scrumhalf. The Centres this week see Inside Centre Jesse Pittman partnering up with the speedster James Schiller as Outside Centre. The Yabbies Wingers are cementing themselves in with some outstanding performances from Beau O’Connor and Hugh McInerney. Owen Griffiths will snipe from the back and more than hold his own in defence this week, running on as Fullback for the Yabbies.

The Bench

This week the Yabbies’ First XV will be complemented by a string of high-calibre substitutes including Ben Fuller, Tom Hurley, Cam Rosser, Thomas Dudek and Mick Hudson.

Following a close match in Round 2 of the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition, which saw Boorowa take the chocolates 10-19, the game this weekend is expected to be another high-octane hit out between 3rd & 4th on the ladder.

Coach Ned Mullany is confident that the squad named has the ability to get another Win on the board this weekend. “Morale is high in the squad on the field and in the club off the field. I think if we can take that energy into the game, we’ve got a solid chance this weekend. If we can keep our composure in defence and our structures in attack for the full 80 minutes, that’s what seems to be winning games for us.”

The weather for this weekend is expected to be stay cool, with a top of 15°C predicted for this Saturday in Boorowa, but the cooler weather isn’t expected to dampen the festivities planned for this weekend! As always, a Rugby match means that there is a high chance of some delicious cold beers for Supporters on the sidelines and in the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition it means that there is an excellent chance of some highly competitive and entertaining Rugby.

So, come on down to Boorowa Showground to see the Young Yabbies take on the Boorowa Goldies this Saturday 15th June, with kick off at 3.15pm.
