Round 2 Yabbies First XV

This week marks Round 2 of the Oilsplus South West Rugby Competition and sees the Yabbies take on another old foe, the Boorowa Goldies, at Cranfield Oval, with kick-off at 3.15pm. This will be the first competition game between the two teams in over two decades!

The line-up for Round 2 is mostly unchanged from Round 1, with injuries and a clashing social event this weekend being the main cause for the few changes in the team. Coach Ned Mullany has said that he was very happy with the how the line-up performed in Round 1, with most players really taking ownership of their positions.

Ned went on to say “the boys have put in a solid effort and shown their dedication on and off the field already, so I think we can safely say to ‘lock it in Eddy’ we’re going to have an exciting season of Rugby ahead. There's no need for 50-50 or ask the audience, but if you're going to phone a friend, remind them it's the year of the Yabbies!”

Looking to the weekend, the weather gurus have predicted some spectacular conditions, including a high chance of some lovely sunny weather, a high chance of some delicious cold beers and an excellent chance of some highly competitive and entertaining rugby. So, why not take the opportunity to inspect the East-West fields and trial some of the delicious food and beverages that Yabbies clubhouse have to offer.

Remember, kick-off is at 3.15pm this Saturday 13th April at the home of the Young Yabbies – Cranfield Oval!

As per last week’s post, we have a few new faces in the squad this year, so if you’re not sure who they are have a look at the Player Profiles page under the About tab.
